Fall season is getting closer and closer…
…and I am looking forward to get the blankets and the sweaters out for the best time of the year. There is something about snuggling on the couch with a hot tea that makes me feel very cozy and happy. But since here in Lisbon the sun and the hot weather are still staying for a bit, I’m fulfilling my desires by searching the best interior design trends for this fall.
And here they are for you…
Dark Green
I’ve seen several shades of dark greens being used in every interior design project lately, and I’m betting everyone will go crazy about it this fall. It can be used on pillows in your living room, on a wall, or in your kitchen cabinets, just like the ones on this picture. Just be creative!

Brass
No more copper (even though I love it). Brass is the new metal to have in your home, and we need to embrace it because it looks beautiful.

Relaxing areas
Everyday we can have a tone of things going through our head and with all the tasks and responsibilities, it can get stressfull. It’s more and more necessary nowadays to have some time to turn off our phones and just relax, even for a few minutes. With a designated (tech-free) space for this, it will be easier for you to incorporate it into your routine. I can be a reading nook, an outdoor bed, or just an armchair in the corner of your room. The trick is: make it comfy, throw on some pillows and blankets, and enjoy fall time!

Velvet
Personally I don’t think I could manage having a couch like this in my home, because I get shivers every time I touch velvet. But I would buy one just to look at it. It look so beautiful! Is used mostly on sofas, armchairs and pillows, and I advise you to get them in darker tones like dark green and blue. Or if you are looking something a little bit more fun go for blush pink or dark yellow.

Black appliances
The shiny days of your silver fridge are gone. Black appliances are looking great on the newest kitchen projects I’ve seen, and if you can get them in matte black it will be just… heaven. Of course I think this applies to people renewing their homes or moving into new ones, and that can make that investment. As for you and me, normal human beings, the ones in our home will probably do the job!

Mix and match
This one is not a “new” trend, but it is definitely here to stay. Experimenting with different styles, textures and colors can lead you to achieve the most interesting results. The key here is to start with something neutral (like the rugs and the white walls on the photo) and then add a pattern and some objects that bring color into the space. Flea markets are great to get out-of-ordinary decorative items.

Painted trims
I saved my favorite for last. I reeeaally wish I had trims like this around my house! It’s an european lovely look, and the best part is that it can be CHEAP. Get your utensils together and prepare for a day of DIY. You can save some money and make your house super stylish with this little accent. Design is in the details! I truly believe this!
