Summer travel – photos of my trip to Nazaré
Portugal has lots of beautiful and enchanting places where you can make a trip to. Last week we decided to go to Nazaré, a beach village in the center part of the country. It has dozens of narrow streets, cobbled lanes running down to a wide beach.
We stayed in a house located in “Sítio”, which is on a cliff above the village. From there you have an amazing picture-postcard view of the beach. There is a square with a beautiful church, a bandstand and also several women dressed in traditional clothes selling souvenirs (like little ceramic swallows and handmade wood boats), as well as nuts. Also you have access to a free entrance museum, that tells us about the village’s history. After you explored everything here, you can take the funicular down to the beach (or you can take the stairs, but I’ll guarantee you it will be a hell of a workout).
The town center is packed with seafood restaurants, bars, cafes and my favorite: ice cream stores! The best one for me is Gelatomania. The ice cream is super flavorful! This place is very passionate about the sea and what comes from it, like fish. On the beach you can find little stands selling sun dried fishes, ready to eat. I know, it looks strange but also cool. I’ve never had the courage to try it and I don’t think I will. I loved walking through those streets and find off path cute shops, houses and doors.
