After a week, we finally have our office restyled! I’m so excited to start working in this space. I would be doing cartwheels in there if I could! Really, my body doesn’t understand how to make them. Anyway, Continue reading if you want to take a look at some before and after pictures.
If you are not familiar with the plan for our office renovation, check out this blog post.
We are still after a few little bits and pieces like a warm throw blanket for the chair (again you can see the excitement for cold weather to come). Some artwork is still needed. But at this stage we are pretty happy with the results. We stayed inside our budget (which was very low) and the office looks way more spacious.
When you entered the room before, you would see a huge cluttered desk, and it made the room look cramped. By changing the shelving unit with the desk, we got more visual space. Now the office looks bigger.
If you follow me on instagram (@whatshedesigns) you have seen that the struggle of painting an ikea piece is veeeery real! I literally cried during that task, the paint got all over the jute rug and the floor at a certain point. The paint wouldn’t stick to the furniture… well it was crazy. But in the end we figured it out.
I’m loving the olive color, it gives more character to the room, and all the brass items really stand out as well. I downsized the amount of boxes, and purged lots of items I didn’t really need. It’s ridiculous the amount of pens and paper I collected over the years!
The shelves above the desk are no longer a place for random stuff. Now they house some of my props I need for shootings.
My favorite part of this transformation is obviously the coffee station! We didn’t have space for it in the kitchen, and I’m the only one drinking coffee. At least several times a day. The wire basket I bought a few weeks ago, turned out to be perfect for keeping my coffee mugs and capsules.
Details always make the difference in your office!
Also in love with this board I made. This will probably be an ever-changing piece. I’m hoping it helps me visualize my ideas and make them come to life.
That’s it! I’m super happy with how it turned out and I will keep you updated on the changes I make. Also, I’m going to write another blog post about how I organized all my supplies and papers. Don’t miss it! You can add me on instagram and pinterest so you’ll never loose another blog post.
See you next time!
